DOG BITES COUNCIL

Talk about being picked on at the Glendale City Council.

The mock doggy lawsuit filed by a Glendale resident complaining about

a basset hound serving as the community's Rose float mascot has not been

good for Councilman Gus Gomez.

Gomez has been teased by his colleagues and members of the Glendale

Rose Float Assn. because of his dog.

Gomez has a 4-pound Chihuahua and several people have mentioned that

he is backing the lawsuit because he wants his dog to serve as the Rose

float mascot.

"There would be nothing there to decorate," Councilman Dave Weaver

suggested.

The lawsuit has prompted several puns by council members who are

trying to show off their wit, including how the suit gave them "paws" and

how the case has "bark."

The debate is intended to raise money for the association. The

News-Press has joined in the fun by writing stories on the mock lawsuit.

One News-Press reader, however, called to complain. He said he was

angry about frivolous lawsuits being filed in today's society.

Some people don't always get the joke.
