Scouts in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade

Senior Gold Award Girl Scouts from the Mt. Wilson Vista Council will

join Eagle Scouts from the San Gabriel Valley Council Boy Scouts for

today's the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade. This year marks the 35th

appearance of the Tournament Troop.

This year's Tournament Troop 2000 began preparing for the parade in

the fall. An interview process was followed by meetings, uniform fittings

and lots of practice. The Scouts will carry the banners that announce the

award-winning float entries. They made a test run of the parade route

carrying pipes to ensure that they would have the stamina required for

the big event.

There will be 76 Scouts in the troop this year, including 32 Girl

Scouts and 44 Boy Scouts. The Girl Scouts joined the Boy Scouts in 1984.

The Scouts will perform the Flag Raising Ceremony at the Tournament House

to officially begin the day. They will attend the Rose Bowl following the

parade.
