GLENDALE -- Behind Talin Isagholi and Susie Francis, the Glendale

High girls' soccer team used a dominating first half, to come away with a

6-0 victory over Hoover High at Moyse Field Thursday in a Pacific League

match.

Isagholi and Francis scored two goals each in the first half and were

also backed by a Nitro defense that did not allow one Tornado shot on

goal.

The Nitros (7-4-1 overall, 2-3 in league) peppered first-half Tornado

goalkeeper Tonya Rogel with a barrage of 12 shots on goal.

Isagholi struck first blood in the fifth minute of the game after

recovering her own blocked shot and sending her second effort into the

net.

Her second goal was in the 33rd minute after a long assist from Tyanne

Andrade.

Francis provided her team with her first goal in the ninth minute on

an assist from Andrea Lee. Her second goal was scored during the 26th

minute on an assist from Isagholi.

"Susie and Talin give their all on the field, they are smart players

who make things happen," said Nitro Coach Hector Garay.

The Nitro defenders did a phenomenal job of keeping the ball on

Hoover's side of the field.

"The ladies put out everything on the field, they have grown as a

team. They have learned to be very physical and play with a lot of

energy. I hope this season (to make) the playoffs," Garay said.

Tornado Coach Damien Jacotin managed to make the changes the team

needed to in the second half, switching Rogel with Carmen Gonzalez in

goal.

The changes lowered the shots on goal for the Nitros to three.

Nonetheless, the Nitros had two goals in that half, one coming from a

penalty kick by captain Yessenia Tello on a handball penalty. Amy

Casillias scored the other second-half goal.

"I made some adjustments midfield it needed to be strengthen in the

second half," Jacotin said after his team fell to 2-10 overall and 0-5 in

league.
