child raising.
The class meets from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays at the GCCLife Skills
Center, corner of Mountain Street and the Glendale (2) Freeway, beginning
March 20.

ADULT EDUCATION ARTS CLASSES OFFERED
A variety of arts and crafts classes are offered this month by the GCC
Community Services Education program.
Mosaic Stepping Stones will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday,
March 25, at the GCC Adult Community Training Center, 1122 E. Garfield Ave.
The hands-on class provides instruction on cutting and breaking of
glass, tiles and dishes and the construction of a finished piece for the
garden or walkway. The fee is $35.
Emboss It! meets from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday. March 20, in Room 201
at Hoover High School, 651 Glenwood Road. The fee is $29. Using the
techniques of embossing, debossing, and thermograph, students learn to
create raised letters and images, creating a 3-D effect on greeting cards
and stationery.
A new course, Springtime Centerpieces, is offered Saturday, March 25,
at the adult training center from 9 a.m. to noon. Students use basic
floral design principles to create a beautiful spring centerpiece with
colorful Easter themes.
There is a $20 materials fee payable to the instructor and the course

GCC SWAP MEET SUNDAY
The GCC Swap Meet will be held Sunday on the upper campus parking lot
off Mountain Street near the Glendale (2) Freeway. Hours are 8 a.m. to 3
p.m. and admission is free. The event is held the third Sunday of each

ALUMNI HOLD AWARDS BANQUET
The 12th Annual Glendale Community College Alumni Awards Banquet will
be held Friday, March 31, at the Brandview Collection in Glendale. Social
hour begins at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m.
Dr. John Davitt, GCC superintendent/president, will be given the
Raymond D. Edwards Award of Merit for Career Achievement and Community
Service, and Dave Greenbaum, president of the GCC Foundation, will
receive the J. Walter Smith Award for Distinguished Service to Glendale
College.
Alumni Scholarships recipients will be announced and the Patrons Club
Presidential Award will be given. Tickets are $32 per person. The
