Parking varience request denied

CITY HALL -- The Glendale Redevelopment Agency Tuesday denied a

request for a cultural association to operate without providing the

required parking spaces.

The Raffi Cultural Assn. purchased a building at 415 W. Colorado St.

to use it for its administrative offices and meetings, including lectures

and birthday parties.

The 50-member Armenian-Romanian Cultural Assn. promotes education,

cultural awareness and social connection with individuals of similar

backgrounds.

The property has four parking spaces but 28 are required under city

codes.

Councilmen Dave Weaver, Gus Gomez and Sheldon Baker voted against

granting the exception. Mayor Ginger Bremberg and Councillman Rafi

Manoukian voted in favor of it.
