GLENDALE HIGH -- Organizers of a celebrity basketball game Saturday

between The Hollywood Knights and the Glendale High Faculty All-Stars are

calling it a "friendly competition."

But the local teachers are seeking their third straight win against a

team full of recording artists and television actors.

"Once we start playing, the spirit of competition kicks in," said

Glendale High faculty member Errol Garnett, one of two former college

basketball players who will suit up for the 6:30 p.m. game. "We're all

coaches. I've never met a coach that didn't like to win."

Celebrities who have confirmed they will play include rapper Coolio,

Jose Solano and Michael Bergin ("Baywatch"), Bryan Dattilo ("Days of Our

Lives"), Anthony Harrell ("Saved by the Bell: The New Class") and Alfonso

Ribeiro ("In the House").

"It's an opportunity for fans to mingle with their favorite stars

outside of Hollywood," said Victoria Skalyet, the Knights' publicity

director.

For more than 20 years, the Hollywood Knights Celebrity Basketball

Team has played exhibitions throughout Southern California to raise money

for high school athletic and academic programs.

Last year's game at Glendale High drew 1,500 fans and raised about

$2,500 for the athletic department, said Garnett, the school's activities

director.

Doors to the Glendale High gym open at 6 p.m. Fans will get to meet

their favorite celebrities during a halftime autograph and picture

session.
