BURBANK -- It's a mystery that will leave the audience wondering who
the killer is right up to the last minute.
John Burroughs High School drama students will take to the stage this
week for three performances of "Ten Little Indians," a play based on
Agatha Christie's mystery novel "And Then There Were None."
About 30 students have been working both on and off stage since
February to get the production together, said William Whited, Burroughs
drama teacher and the play's director. "Ten Little Indians" is the
department's major production of the year, he said.
Antique furniture, borrowed from Warner Bros. Studios, will serve as
the backdrop to a murder mystery set in the 1930s. Ten guests are invited
to an English island but their ranks soon begin to thin.
Whited said the production has been a team effort.
"The support that we've gotten from the community has been
great...some have donated their time and money to make up posters for
us," Whited said.
Biaggio Paternostro, who plays "Giovani" a loud and crude buggy
driver, provides comic relief during the intense drama. Since his
character appears in only a few scenes, the 17-year-old junior said he
wanted to make them as memorable as possible for the audience.
"It's a different twist to the character," Paternostro said.
