DOWNTOWN -- Glendale-based Nestle USA was recognized Thursday as one

of the leading U.S. corporations in providing adoption benefits to

employees.

The award came from the Dave Thomas Center for Adoption Law in

Columbus, Ohio, a program that seeks to solve legal problems related to

adoption.

Nestle was among 49 companies recognized as "Adoption All-Stars," said

center spokeswoman Catherine Stathulis.

Winners of the award must provide employees a minimum of two paid

weeks off and at least a $5,000 expense reimbursement for every child

adopted.

"It is a unique benefit to employees and it's very important because

when people go out to adopt a child, they're not given any time off,"

Stathulis said. "They have to take their own vacation time."
