students shine in academic decathlon

INCARNATION SCHOOL -- Students from Incarnation School in Glendale

placed first in logic and second in the super quiz in the state finals

at the California State Junior High Academic Decathlon and proved that

they were smart when it counted. One team from each dioceses in

California represented their school May 6 in the state championship.

Incarnation earned its spot by beating out 67 schools from Santa Barbara

to Long Beach.

The event consisted of competition in eight main subject areas for

individual events -- math, literature, English, science, religion, fine

arts, social studies and speech. Incarnation made its mark in the team

events, with students from the sixth, seventh and eighth grades sharing

the glory.
