THEY MEET AT LAST

After accusations of debate-ducking from both sides in the

Rogan-Schiff fight, it looks like the two will finally meet.

U.S. Rep. James Rogan (R-Glendale) and state Sen. Adam Schiff

(D-Glendale), the two men vying for the area's congressional seat, have

agreed to appear on "AirTalk," a show hosted by Larry Mantle on KPCC-FM

(89.3).

Assistant Producer Julia Posey said the much-anticipated meeting will

probably take place in late July.

LET'S READ

Schiff got the State Senate to include a $350,000 request for a

Burbank Unified literacy program in its version of California's 2000-01

budget.

The money would allow the district to provide more training for

teachers, continue to track student progress in reading and add reading

classes.

"Over the past several years, our school district has been committed

to intensive reading instruction and this funding to continue the

programs is crucial," said Burbank Supt. David Aponik.

RAISING WITH REAGAN AND ROGAN

Craig Missakian will get help from fellow Republicans today in raising

money for his run against Democrat Dario Frommer for the 43rd state

Assembly District.

Conservative talk show host Michael Reagan, son of President Ronald

Reagan, and Congressman Rogan are set to appear at a Missakian

fund-raiser tonight at the home of Glendale developer Sal Gangi.

FEELING BLUE

Schiff is set to appear at a groundbreaking ceremony today for the

Pasadena Blue Line, the 13.7-mile rail line that will stretch from Los

Angeles to Pasadena.

Schiff authored legislation to create the Pasadena Metro Blue Line

Construction Authority, which oversees the project, to be completed in

2003.
