Disney, city approve pact

CITY HALL -- The Walt Disney Co. in Glendale has signed on with the

city to lease its fiber optic line.

Glendale Water & Power extended a fiber optic line from Burbank to

Glendale to improve communications for monitoring and controlling

electric service.

The city planned to lease excess fiber to companies.

Disney will link its headquarters in Burbank with facilities in

Glendale.

The term of the deal is 18 months. Disney will pay $175 per fiber

strand per mile per month, and the company is responsible for connecting

to the system.

Glendale will earn about $16,800 a year.
