"Juneteenth" marks the date in 1865 when Gen. Gordon Granger arrived in

Galveston, Texas, to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation. The program

will include a 10 a.m. performance by The New Buffalo Soldiers and a noon

reading of the proclamation by actor Reginald Dorsey. Mike Mann and the

Night Riders will play at 12:15 p.m. and Allan Lee will present a musical

program on the legends and history of African-Americans in the West at 2

The lilting sounds of harp music can be heard at 1 p.m. as part of the

"Under the Oaks" concert at Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Drive, in La

Canada Flintridge. The harp group Angels of Venice will perform classical

and Celtic harp selections. Glendale resident Carol Tatum is the founding

member and principal songwriter, arranger and producer for the group. The

performance is free with paid admission to the gardens. For more

The LA Bluescasters will perform from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the Rusty
