Baby-sitting Basics and Chinese Calligraphy Art await eager pupils.

* For both La Crescenta and La Canada Flintridge residents, the annual

Summer Beach Bus just started its route, taking residents to Santa Monica

Beach for just $2 round-trip. The bus stops at five locations between

9:15 and 9:30 a.m. and leaves the beach at 3 p.m. The bus runs every

Thursday and Saturday until July 22, when it will add Monday, Tuesday

and Friday to the schedule until Sept. 4. For more information on

LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE

* Although located in La Canada, the Crescenta-Canada YMCA serves La

Crescenta residents as well. They run day camps from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for

kids from preschool to high school age. Children can also attend

gymnastics camp or one of two weeklong sleep-away camps, one on Catalina

Island and the other in Big Bear. Families can attend the weekend getaway

on Catalina scheduled for Labor Day weekend. Call 790-0123 now to sign

* Any Broadway babies in the family? Foothill Summer Theatre's

"Broadway Summer Camp" kicks off June 26 and is open to kids in grades

three through eight. The three-week course, which operates out of La

Canada High School Monday through Friday, includes training in acting,

SUNLAND-TUJUNGA

* The Sunland Park Recreation Center wants adults to have as much fun

as kids this summer. They run a day camp for children, but also offer

martial arts classes throughout the year for people of all ages. The

center's Greg Perkins is trying to organize an adult softball league as

soon as possible, to play every Tuesday night. Call 352-5282 to learn

more.

* For those with a more artistic bent, the McGroarty Arts Center in

Tujunga is offering classes for anyone 3 or older who wants to learn

dancing, musical instruments, crafts, ceramics, printmaking and so on.

The classes run June 26 through Aug. 19 at different times of the week.

There is also a six-week summer art camp starting July 11 for those 6 and

up. The class will meet every Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call

BURBANK

* The Burbank YMCA runs the typical range of day camps for children in

grades one through eight from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. every weekday. Also

available are weeklong specialty camps, including soccer or basketball
