Music and nature softly blend this weekend in the Under the Oaks

series at Descanso Gardens in La Canada Flintridge.

Jon Sherman performs flute meditations and original songs today

inspired by the poetry of nature. On Sunday, Bobbie Jo Curley sings while

accompanying herself on harp.

Both shows begin at 1 p.m. and are free with gardens' admission.

Diplaying works this month inside the Boddy Art Gallery are Maria

Mareque of Glendale, Pat Combs of La Habra Heights and John Drake of

Tujunga.

Mareque returns with her most recent collection of landscape oil

paintings in an impressionistic style. She has been commissioned by

private collectors and has also worked as a mural and backdrop artist.

Combs will show her new watercolor and pastel paintings. Her works

also include matted prints and note cards. She is also an award-winning

artist and teaches for the Whittier Adult School District. Drake will

display his ceramics.

Admission is $5, $3 seniors and students, $1 for ages 5 to 12 and

under 5 free. Free parking is available. Descanso is at 1418 Descanso

DANCING

Dance to live music at Sardo's

Sardo's, 259 N. Pass Ave. Burbank features live blues and jazz from 9

p.m. to midnight every Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Wednesdays, Fridays

and Saturdays will feature live music and dancing by Skyline from 9:30

p.m. to 2 a.m. No cover charge. Call 846-8126.

Go to Giggles for salsa, merengue

Giggles night club, 215 N. Brand Blvd. in Glendale, is offering a

mixture of dancing and Salsa lessons. Fridays and Saturdays dance to

house, disco and Spanish rock with no cover charge before 9 p.m. $10

after 9 p.m. on Fridays and $12 after 9 p.m. on Saturdays. There is a

strict dress code.

Salsa and merengue dancing is offered on Saturdays with lessons for

beginners and advanced at 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m., with

strict dress code. Call 500-7800.

Crazy Jack's offers

country entertainment

Crazy Jack's, 4311 W. Magnolia Blvd. in Burbank, offers live country

entertainment and free dance lessons.

Entertainment includes live country bands from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

Fridays and Saturdays, and 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Sundays. Dance lessons are

from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The menu includes steaks, hamburgers and french dip sandwiches, along
