"We consider this Glendale's premier event through the year," said
organizer Karen Fries of the Glendale Parks & Recreation Department.
"Almost every division of the city is involved in it in some way."
Car show organizer Gerry Milota expects 400 car entries, 50 more than
last year. The cars, which must predate 1973 unless given specific
approval, compete for such trophies as Mayor's Choice, Police Chief's
Choice and Fire Chief's Choice.
As in years past, a number of vendors selling car-related items have
rented tables and will line the show along Brand Boulevard.
Local eateries should remain open throughout the evening and two
stages will feature live music by bands including Flat Top Tom & His Jump
Cats, The Alley Cats, Swing Syndicate, L.A. Bluescasters and The
Rattlers.
For the first time, Cruise Night will include the National Night Out
Expo, organized by the Police Department. The expo will focus on street
crime prevention and includes a number of displays, a dunk tank and
police vehicles open to curious children.
