The League of Women Voters of Glendale-Burbank recently publicized in
this newspaper its intentions to sponsor a Candidate Forum at 7 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 22, at the Burbank City Hall, and I am writing to publicly
accept the invitation to debate. The league forums are an indispensable
part of our local democratic process, and I am truly looking forward to
taking part.
The league's candidate forum prior to the Primary Election offered a
top-notch and professional opportunity for the candidates for the local
congressional, state Senate and Assembly seats an opportunity to reach a
broad audience. The league forum was broadcast live on the local
government access cable channel in Glendale, Burbank and the foothill
communities and I am pleased that for the upcoming debate the league
plans to widen its outreach by distributing videotapes of the forum for
broadcast on cable channels in Pasadena. No other candidates' forum
offers as broad an audience in a nonpartisan setting as does the league
forum, and I am truly proud of the decades of service of the league in
helping to educate voters.
Thank you again for your service to our democratic process and our
community through the candidates forums. I look forward to a lively and
engaging league debate with my fellow candidates from the Republican,
Natural Law and Libertarian Parties on Sept. 22.
