About 400 people will be able to find parking on Brand on Saturday,

but that's not why we're celebrating. Some 30,000 people will come to

enjoy the classic cars filling the street at Glendale Cruise Night.

The streets will be packed with people talking about their cars and

dancing to the music of Flat Top Tom & His Jump Cats and The Alley Cats,

along with Swing Syndicate, L.A. Bluescasters and The Rattlers.

Restaurants will be dishing up meals by the hundreds. A number of

businesses that helped make the event possible will be meeting and

greeting all who venture by.

Os part of Cruise Night, the Glendale Police Department's National

Night Out Expo will line California Avenue just off Brand Boulevard.

Glendale's classic car show is among the fastest growing in the

country. There are reasons for its popularity. It has always featured

live music -- in the past Starship and Iron Butterfly have taken the

stage -- and a great assortment of cars. The food and community

atmosphere certainly help keep people coming back.

If you have never been to Glendale Cruise Night, find the time to drop

by Saturday and enjoy the nonstop music and the cars on display. The

five-block event will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. If you have been, you

know what to expect, just bigger. This year's show as added about 50

cars.

Every summer Glendale gets to showcase its downtown area with this

event. It isn't the only car show in the area, but it may be the best. Be

a part of it.
