GLENDALE -- A group of local high school students are gearing up to

attend "boot camp" for the American Red Cross.

Yucaipa.

"The camp will help mold and shape the characteristics needed in

crisis situations," spokeswoman Lysa Barry said. "It's a week of boot

camp."

Activities will include how to work effectively in groups and

providing aid, Barry said.

Glendale High School delegates are Araceli Nava, Sonal Patel and Anna

Tam, with Jenny Ko and Janice Park from Crescenta Valley High School.

Students from both high schools will also attend as staff members.

Interested young people who have at least 15 months of volunteer

service for the group and can pay a $50 deposit must sign up to attend

the camp by Friday morning by calling 409-6804.
