Schiff to speak at peace concert

GLENDALE -- State Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Glendale) will be the keynote

speaker Saturday at a concert to promote peace.

Schiff, chairman of the state Senate Select Committee on Juvenile

Justice, plans to talk about combating youth violence at "Peace Through

Music," sponsored by the Pasadena Human Relations Commission.

The concert will feature several musicians and dancers, including

pianist Vatche Mankerian and 11-year old violinist Christopher M.

Ballard.

The performance will begin at 7 p.m. at the First Church of the

Nazarene, 3700 E. Sierra Madre Blvd. in Pasadena.

Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the door. Proceeds from the

event will help commission outreach projects.
