Six artists featured in college exhibition

"Material Matters," an art exhibition featuring the work of six Los

Angeles artists, will be displayed in the Glendale Community College Art

Gallery Oct. 2 to 27.

A reception for the artists, Geoff Allen, Nancy Braver, Seth Kaufman,

Jaime Scholnick, Pam Strugar and Ashley Thorner, will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 5, in the gallery.

The artists deal in a variety of materials gleaned from pop culture

that they transform into commentary on consumer products, manufacturing

processes and the nature of aesthetic objects.

Admission is free and open to the public. The gallery is in the

Library Building. Call for hours at 240-1000, ext. 5663 or 5545.

Annabelle Aylmer is the gallery director.

'Night Must Fall' first college production

The chilling psychological drama, "Night Must Fall," written by Emlyn

Williams, is the first production of the year planned by the Glendale

Community College Theatre Arts Department.

Instructor Jill Benone directs this story of a charismatic young man

who charms his way into the home of an old woman over the objections of

her repressed niece.

Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday on Oct. 5, 6, 7,

12, 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21. Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. on Oct. 8, 15

and 22. The play is performed in the GCC Auditorium Mainstage Theatre.

General admission is $7, $5 for students and seniors and $3 each for
