Taxi driver robbed of money, phone

GLENDALE -- Police are investigating the robbery of a taxi driver who

dropped off his rider in Glendale.

The driver told police he picked up the male passenger in Hollywood

and when he stopped to let him out at Cypress Street and Brand Boulevard,

the man in the backseat pulled out a handgun and demanded the driver's

money. The man reached over the seat and took the driver's cellular phone

as well, the driver told police.

The passenger then demanded the car, but the driver refused, and drove

to Brand Boulevard and Los Feliz Road, where the man finally got out of

the car. The man was last seen running west on Los Feliz Road, police

said.
