Letter - Robert Wagner

October 26, 2000

That Rep. James Rogan, GOP Congressional candidate for the 27th

District, raised millions of dollars from "out-of-staters" only confirms

what local constituents think: that Democrats-turned-Republicans are the

new carpetbaggers of politics. Go where the money goes.

Rogan has oppose gun control earning the NRA's Medal of Freedom award.

Rogan had done little to improve the quality of public education for

children and voted against health reform for older Californians.

Currently as senior senator in the California Senior Legislature, I am

very concerned about managed health care reform and authored a "Patient's

Bill of Rights" legislation to the Senior Legislature.

Rogan's rejection of key HMO reforms, campaign reform, and a Patients'

Bill of Rights are key issues.

As a lifelong Republican, a former president of the Republican Club of

South Pasadena and former mayor pro tem of South Pasadena, I have decided

not to support Rogan in his race for reelection to Congress.
