Third announcement in council race

GLENDALE -- A district manager for the Gas Company has joined the

growing field in the race for the City Council.

Tony Tartaglia, 36, announced his candidacy Thursday morning during a

breakfast at the Elks Lodge. More than 80 people attended, he said.

Tartaglia said his job has brought him into contact with many cities,

and that he can join the council with a lot of expertise and experience

of what works and what doesn't work in cities. He said his biggest

concern is a projected multi-million-dollar budget deficit in the future

and wants to help develop strategies to deal with the problem.

"We are at a crossroads," Tartaglia said. "I am really concerned. Our

programs and services are stressed to the max and revenues are not

keeping up with it."

Tartaglia joins Pam Ellis and Hamo Rostamian as candidates who have

formally announced. Between 15 and 20 people are expected to run. The

filing period opens Jan. 5.
