Evening sparkles at the park

GRIFFITH PARK -- It's a winter wonderland of lights at Griffith Park.

The Fifth Annual Light Festival began Friday and will run through Dec.

26 at the park. The free event, sponsored by the Los Angeles Department

of Water Power and Griffith Park, promises to delight holiday revelers.

Lights along a one-mile stretch of Crystal Springs Drive, near the Los

Angeles Zoo, may be enjoyed from the comfort of a vehicle or during a

leisurely walk.

The Light Festival incudes a drive through a tunnel of lights, lighted

representations of downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood sign and the new

Staples Center.
