SAN RAFAEL -- Fiesta de Las Luminarias, a candlelight festival, will
be sponsored this weekend by Glendale Beautiful at Casa Adobe de San
Rafael, 1330 Dorothy Drive.
The fiesta will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Councilmember
Ginger Bremberg will be making her famous hot apple cider on Friday
night. There will be a children's pinata party from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Organizers will decorate the pathways on the grounds with more than
350 candles placed in sand inside brown paper bags. The city has
decorated the outside of the casa with lights covered by brown paper bags
to complement the pathway displays.
Entertainment will be provided and refreshments will be served.
Casa Adobe is a 19th century home of Tomas and Maria Sanchez. Tomas
was the sheriff of Los Angeles from 1859 to 1867. The casa has been cared
for by members of Glendale Beautiful in cooperation with the Glendale
Parks, Recreation and Community Services Division.
