Letter - Albert Abkarian

January 01, 2001

I have so many wishes for the New Year but here are the most important

ones:

I wish we can set aside our differences and put the same amount of

energy in working together in solving local issues and concerns.

I wish that we could work even closer with our outstanding police

department to further improve its relationship with the entire community.

I wish that we can have more families, especially in the ethnic

groups, commit to being more involved with the PTA and local schools.

I wish that we could have more professionals give back to the

community by volunteering in local charitable groups.

I wish that City Council members would continue to put the best

interest of the city and its people ahead of their own interests and

gains.

I wish we could show our appreciation of our teachers and school

employees that have made our schools one of the top districts in the

state.

I wish we could have schools without violence and fights.

I wish we can eliminate prejudice and hate from our community. At the

same time, I wish we could eliminate unwarranted and unsubstantiated

accusations of prejudice.

I wish we could show our support for the best police department

around.

I wish we could all thank the Fire Department and its members for an

excellent job in protecting our homes in the past year.

I wish we could all look in the mirror before judging others.

I wish we could thank Glendale News-Press for protecting the 1st

Amendment rights and reporting all the news and editorial letters without

censorship.

And finally, I wish you all a Happy New Year.
