As the girls' Crescenta Valley water polo team was winning the Pacific

League Championships last week, the dismal coverage of their games was

apparent.

First, there was no coverage of the Tuesday prelims.

Then on Friday, all I saw was a bunch of basketball coverage on

Thursday's losing games and a little corner article about the water polo

Pacific League Champs.

To top it off, one of our leading scorers seemed to have taken on a

name change from Debbie Snyder to Debbie Reynolds. I really doubt Ms.

Reynolds would take up water polo this late in her acting career.

The water polo team is one of the best things that has happened to

Crescenta Valley this year. Currently, it is the best thing going on.

The team is ranked second in California Interscholastic Federation

Division III, right behind powerhouse Bell Gardens, who just lost its

first game in four years.

This dedicated team of young women came in first place in its first

tournament of the season in Claremont.

In January, playing Division I and II schools in a tournament at La

Palma, the team finished in second place.

Don't you think they deserve more coverage than a small corner

article?
