NORTHEAST GLENDALE -- Hundreds of teens are expected to flock to the

Glendale Galleria Thursday in hopes of becoming a model for a day.

Seventeen magazine will host the event, which will feature the winners

in a prom fashion show on Saturday.

"What we look for is a certain energy on stage," said Jennifer

Maguire, publicist for the magazine.

There are no height or weight requirements for the search and both

young men and women between 13 and 21 years old are being sought, she

said.

"Teens should come with the idea of having fun," Maguire said.

Those who are chosen -- about 20 young women and five young men --

will strut their stuff again on Saturday in a fashion show spotlighting

the latest prom fashions.

The event is one of about 50 pre-prom events and one of 200 other

types of events the magazine has each year across the country, she said.

Scouts from the major modeling agencies do follow the model search

events, she said. Photos from the events are sometimes used in the

magazine.

The model search and fashion show will be at JC Penney, a sponsor of

the event that is supplying the prom fashions.

There will be giveaways at the model search, including a chance to win

a prom-night performance by O-Town, a musical group featured on the

"Making the Band" TV series.
