For the love of animals

NORTHEAST GLENDALE -- This is one feline that could be welcomed into

any home.

Noel doesn't require food, water or a place to sleep. The only thing

this cat could use is a frame.

The Glendale Humane Society is hoping to find hundreds of people who

are willing to take Noel home.

The black cat is the subject of a colored-pencil drawing titled "The

Missing Piece of the Puzzle," which a group of community members has

turned into a limited-edition poster for sale by the Humane Society.

A small group of people gathered in a local home on Sunday to

celebrate the unveiling of the poster, which the society is selling to

help raise money for the facility.

"It's just beautiful," said Leslie Eppick, executive director of the

local society.

Glendale resident Greg Elmore, a self-proclaimed animal lover, said it

was "The Dog House" -- a local cable television show featuring animals

available for adoption -- that inspired him to do something to help the

Humane Society.

"Once you see [the show], you cannot pass it by," he said.

Late last year, Elmore shared his desire to help the society with

Kathee Sublette, an artist who works at a local frame shop.

A fellow animal lover, Sublette offered a colorful picture she had

drawn of a beloved cat named Noel to be used for a Humane Society poster.

"It breaks my heart that I can't save all of [the animals]," said

Sublette, wearing a cat sweater, pin and earrings.

With the help of Macson Printing and Lithography and Frame Pros

Quality Picture Framing in Glendale, 630 posters were produced and money

and materials were provided for the Humane Society to mail them.

"It made me feel really good that the community is so involved,"

Eppick said.
