Glendale Memorial's Cardiac Fitness Center offers "Big Band Exercise

Classes" from 8 to 9 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays on the second floor of

the Glendale Heart Center, 1420 S. Central Ave. The class is available to

anyone in the community who wants to get fit to the sounds of Glen

Miller, '50s rock 'n' roll and other contemporary music. The class

consists of aerobic dance, resistance band strengthening and stretching

and flexibility exercises. The fee is $24 for eight sessions or $40 for

"The Birthday Party" is on display through May 20, at the Brand

Library Galleries, 1601 W. Mountain St. The exhibit features the works of

more than 60 international wood-turning artists and West Coast furniture

makers, and is centered around the theme of a birthday party. Turned wood

objects on display include a cake, presents, hats, favors and more.

Gallery hours are from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, from 1 to 6 p.m.

on Wednesday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For more
