Students win at math competition

NORTHWEST GLENDALE -- Students in the Glendale Unified School District

fared well in the annual Los Angeles County Math Field Day.

Students from 13 Glendale elementary and middle schools participated

with schools from 24 other districts in Saturday's competition. Teams

were grouped according to grade level.

The fourth-grade team took first place in algebra, fourth place in

number sense and third place in statistics.

The fifth-grade team took first place in geometry, fourth-place in

number sense and sixth place in algebra.

The sixth-grade team took fifth place in number sense and algebra and

second place in geometry.

The seventh-grade team took sixth place in number sense, tied with

South Pasadena School District team for fifth place in algebra, took

second in geometry and tied with the William S. Hart Union High School

District for fifth in statistics.

The eighth-grade team took first in geometry, sixth in number sense

and second in algebra. The field day was at Edgewood Middle School in

West Covina.
