Letter -- Robert Morrison

June 20, 2001

Letters to the Community Forum that I have observed over the years

have run the gamut from eloquently coherent to irrational nonsense, but

Jason Roe's letter ("Will Rogers simply jealous of Rogan," June 15), wins

the grand prize for being the most absurdly imbecilic letter (hit piece)

I have yet to read.

In it, he claims that poor Will has been so down on Rogan because Will

is simply green with envy over Rogan's enormous accomplishments. I

obviously can't speak for Will, but I'm personally darned glad I'm not

James Rogan, much less being envious of him. And I'd bet the farm that

that's how Will feels.

One of the reasons Rogan lost to Adam Schiff is that Rogan's campaign

manager, Jason Roe, was entirely out of touch with the majority of the

district's constituency. This deficit was greatly enhanced by Roe's

belligerent, take-no-prisoners modus operandi. This clearly had to be in

tune with Rogan's arrogant lack of concern for his constituents;

otherwise he would have had every reason to fire Roe. What is even more

amazing is that Rogan has retained Roe as his political director, even

after Roe was so influential in engineering his defeat.

But the good news here is that their continuing lack of understanding

of the reasons for Rogan's loss happily assures us that Rogan has little

chance of ever winning another election in this area.
