Letter -- Joe Zuazua

June 20, 2001

This is in response to Harry Zavos' letter ("Wound continues to

fester," June 12) and to all the Armenian residents of Glendale about the

lowering of the flag.

I would very much like to suggest something that will make everybody

happy and bring light to the subject with some questions that I want

answered by every one of those yelling foul.

First, anyone who wants the U.S. flag lowered to half-staff should go

and buy one flag, take it home and lower it.

Now for the questions. Please, be honest with your answers. If there

are enough affirmative ones I will run naked all over Brand Boulevard,

yelling to have the flag lowered, but if there are mostly negative

answers, you all shut up for good. Deal?

Is the U.S. to lower the flag for the massacres in Uganda, Rwanda,

South Africa, Mexico's Tlaltelolco, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala,

Argentina and Chile?

Do ANY of these countries' citizens in Glendale cry loud to the city

government to lower the flag?

Do any of these countries mentioned above have less or more right than

Armenians to request the flag be lowered?

Does Israel and its Glendale residents request to the city government

to lower the flag? Have they? Did Israel request Washington, D.C., and

the president to lower the flag? Come on.

And to Mr. Gus Gomez: You just goofed. Not ever has the U.S.

government or any other state or local government in all the U.S. done

what you did. Now get yourself out of this mess, and stop the train

before it crashes.

Any takers? How many affirmative answers? How many negative ones?
