The Summer Beach Bus to Santa Monica leaves from La Crescenta and La

Canada Flintridge on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays

through Sept. 3. The round-trip fare is $2, $1 for senior citizens and

the disabled. The bus leaves at 9:15 a.m. from Two Strike Park, 5107

Rosemont Ave., La Crescenta; 9:20 a.m. from the La Crescenta Public

Library, 4521 La Crescenta Ave.; 9:22 a.m. from the corner of Montrose

and La Crescenta avenues; 9:25 a.m. from the corner of Montrose and Ocean

View avenues and 9:30 a.m. from Foothill and La Canada boulevards. The

bus leaves Santa Monica at 3 p.m.

The Glendale Certified Farmers Market is held from 9:30 to 1:30 p.m.

every Thursday on Brand Boulevard between Broadway and Wilson Avenue.

Farmers arrive with fresh vegetables and fruit, eggs, honey and more.

The Winnick Family Children's Zoo will hold its grand opening at 10

a.m. at the Los Angeles Zoo, 5333 Zoo Drive, Los Angeles. The zoo will

feature scores of animals -- goats, pot-bellied pigs, alpacas, miniature

horses and more. The zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. General

admission is $8.25, and $3.25 for children 2 to 12. For more information,

The Glendale Parks, Recreation and Community Services Division will

hold a Penny Carnival from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fremont Park, 600 W.

Hahn Ave., and from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at Palmer Park, 610 E. Palmer Ave.

Games and carnival activities will cost between 15 and 50 cents. Don't

The Rotary Club of Glendale meets at noon every Thursday at the

Brandview Collection Restaurant, 109 E. Harvard St. The topic will be

"Habitat For Humanity." For more information, call 790-6643.

The Montrose Family Festival is from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursdays in the 2200

and 2300 block of Honolulu Avenue. The festival offers farmers produce,

arts and crafts, food, entertainment, children's rides and more.

The Brand Library Art Galleries, 1601 W. Mountain St. will exhibit the

works of John Sproul and Clayton Sapada now through Sept 8. Gallery hours

are from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from
