Writers take trip to library

SOUTHWEST GLENDALE -- Fifteen winners of the L. Ron Hubbard's Writers

of the Future Contest came to the Glendale Public Library this month as

part of weeklong writing training program.

The winners, whose writing was just published in a collection of

science fiction stories, came to the library Aug. 7 to research upcoming

projects. The trip was part of a week of training intended to coach the

writers on the business of producing fiction, according to a spokeswoman

for the contest.

The Writers of the Future contest was established in 1984 to encourage

the efforts of science fiction writers and to provide an opportunity

those efforts to be acknowledged, according to the spokeswoman.
