Free emergency response training offered

LA CRESCENTA -- People interested in learning how to respond in an

emergency situation can join free classes that begin Thursday.

The Community Emergency Response Team trains residents how to help

themselves and others in case of a major disaster. The five-session

course includes first-aid training, light search-and-rescue techniques,

firefighting and disaster psychology.

The classes will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 and Nov. 15. Two

Saturday classes will also be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 10 and Nov. 17.

The classes are hosted by Short Term Emergency Plan, a program of the

Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station.
