GLENDALE -- Los Angeles Mayor James Hahn is asking Glendale residents
to put their pots and pans away, abandon their stoves and microwaves and
give their kitchens a rest until Dec. 20.
The request comes in the form of a campaign unveiled Thursday called
"Dine L.A."
Participating restaurants will offer patrons a 20% discount on
Tuesday, Thursday or both days in an effort to revitalize the local
economy.
"I want to encourage everyone to dine out every Tuesday and Thursday,
so that Los Angeles residents can get back to their normal daily lives
and keep our economy on track," Hahn said in a statement.
Thirty-five Glendale eateries are joining the effort.
"Obviously it's something very well-thought-of and we trust [Hahn],"
said Mike Cholakian, general manager of Carousel Restaurant, 304 N. Brand
Blvd. Carousel is offering the 20% discount to any patrons who mention
"Dine L.A." on Tuesdays and Thursdays until Dec. 20.
"We believe in [Hahn], so we're backing it up," Cholakian said.
