Business group offers seminar

NORTHWEST GLENDALE -- Verdugo Hills Business and Professional Women

will offer a seminar today at noon on how to plan financially for the

long-term future.

"Build Financial Baskets for Your Dreams, Your Security and Your

Retirement" will be led by Margaret Lofaro, a certified financial

The meeting will run until 1:30 at the Hilton Glendale, 100 W.

Glenoaks Blvd. The program costs $20 and includes lunch. For more

Nestle USA, sports teams adopt a school

EAGLE ROCK -- Students at Eagle Rock Elementary School will be visited

by volunteers from Glendale-based Nestle USA, Los Angeles Dodgers manager

Jim Tracy and L.A. Galaxy defender Alexi Lalas on Wednesday.

The event is part of Nestle's adopt-a-school program thatcelebrates

American Education Week. The sports figures will distribute reading

materials to the students, and Nestle volunteers will help students will

create gift baskets for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

Students are expected to learn the value of reading and community

involvement through the celebration. Eagle Rock Elementary is one of 51

schools adopted by Nestle USA.
