SOUTHEAST GLENDALE -- Two mismatched shoes were among a handful of

items left in the middle of Colorado Street Wednesday after two women

were hit in a crosswalk there.

The Glendale women, 64 and 71, were being treated Wednesday night at a

Pasadena hospital for injuries suffered in the incident.

"Their injuries are not life-threatening," Glendale Police spokesman

Sgt. Bruce Fox said of the women, who were crossing the 1300 block of

South Colorado Street shortly after 4 p.m.

The driver of the white Ford Bronco that hit the women, a 17-year-old

Los Angeles boy, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the

influence.

The women's names were not released Wednesday night, pending

notification of their families. It was not known if the women are

related.

The women became the fourth and fifth pedestrians to suffer serious

injuries at the hands of drivers in the city since Nov. 7. The other

three people were also in marked crosswalks, but the drivers in those

cases have not been cited although police said they are still

investigating.

Anyone who witnessed Wednesday's incident is asked to call Glendale

Police investigators at 548-4840.
