Computer technology in colleges examined

LA CRESCENTA -- Representatives of California community colleges,

members of the business community and Assemblywoman Carol Liu (D-La

Crescenta) will hold an informational public hearing Thursday regarding

how community colleges are equipping students with work-force computer

skills.

Liu and Assemblyman Jerome Horton (D-Inglewood), who will also attend

the hearing, are members of the Assembly Select Committee on Community

College to Career.

The Assembly members will attempt to determine how California's

students can be better equipped with the computer skills they need for

current and future job markets.

The hearing runs from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Community

Education Center, Pasadena City College, 3035 Foothill Blvd., Pasadena.
