GLENDALE GALLERIA -- The community is invited to celebrate the last

night of Hanukkah Sunday at the Glendale Galleria.

The event, sponsored by Chabad Jewish Center of Glendale and Foothill,

will feature the traditional lighting of the Menorah.

During Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, Jews

commemorate the Maccabees' victory over the Syrians in 165 B.C.

The lighting of the Menorah's candles is a reminder of what happened

once the Jews took back the Temple of Jerusalem: one night's worth of oil

for the holy lamps lasted them eight nights.

The celebration at the Galleria will feature a lighting of the last

candle. There will also be live music, clowns, balloons and Hanukkah

gifts.

Everyone is invited to the event, which will begin at 4:30 p.m.

The celebration will take place in the Banana Court, in front of the

Banana Republic store.

The Galleria is at 2418 Glendale Galleria Way. For more information,

call Chabad at 240-2750.
