Opera lecture set for Thursday

NORTHWEST GLENDALE -- The Los Angeles Opera League will present the

first in a series of lectures on opera at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Brand

Library & Art Center, 1601 W. Mountain St.

The free lectures will be on the second Thursday of each month. Six of

the lectures will be timed with operas being produced by the L.A. Opera.

The other three lectures feature behind-the-scenes looks at the world

of opera, including makeup, lighting and design, and a special program by

the L.A. Opera Young Artists Program.
