GLENDALE -- Local organizations that have provided health and human

services in response to the Sept. 11 attacks could be eligible for

additional grants as The California Endowment has given the Glendale

Community Foundation $50,000 for that purpose.

The money is to be granted to agencies that provide food, emergency

shelter, health-care services, mental health counseling and other human

services to families and individuals in the community.

The grant is part of a $6-million effort of The California Endowment

and United Way with different community foundations.

The 46-year-old Glendale Community Foundation is a charitable

endowment for Glendale, La Canada Flintridge, La Crescenta, Montrose and

Verdugo City.
