Descanso to host flower auction

LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE -- Lilacs will be auctioned off Friday at

Descanso Gardens as part of the International Lilac Society's 32nd annual

convention.

Hundreds of specially grown lilacs will be available for auction.

Among the lilacs for auction will be Descanso's Lavender Lady, Angel

White, California Rose and Sylvan Beauty. Also set for auction are

Forrest Kresser Smith lilacs, which are named for the first president of

the Descanso Gardens Guild.

The auction will be at 1:15 p.m. Friday in the International Rosarium

of Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Dr. in La Canada Flintridge.

The auction is free with garden admission.
