things like small rockets, "battery buggies," small airplanes, bridges,

tectonic plates, water pollutants and volcanic activity. A free-falling

egg experiment will test students' use of simple materials and

creativity.

Gladstone's students won fourth place at the regional science

competition in November 2001.

Wilson students will compete against 28 middle schools from Southern

California.

"It's wonderful because it challenges their problem-solving skills.

We're very excited," Gladstone said.
