Smoke but no fire at Galleria structure

GLENDALE GALLERIA -- Streets near the corner of Broadway and Orange

Street were blocked by police officers as firefightersinspected smoke on

the 12th floor of the Glendale Galleria high-rise office building Tuesday

afternoon.

A call came to the Fire Department at 3:52 p.m. and five battalions

from stations 21, 22, 25 and 26 responded to 100 W. Broadway.

There was no fire at the building, just smoke generated from an

electrical problem, Asst. Chief Don Biggs said. The problem caused a

short power failure in the building and the it had to be evacuated, Biggs

said.

There were no injuries in the incident.
