Man arrested after car and foot chase

NORTHWEST GLENDALE -- A 21-year-old Glendale man who allegedly

broadsided a car while trying to evade police, was arrested Tuesday

following a foot chase.

Allen Shakvaladyan was arrested on suspicion of felony evading and

felony hit-and-run, Glendale Police Sgt. Kirk Palmer said.

Shakvaladyan was being held Tuesday in the Glendale City Jail on

$80,000 bail. He faces additional charges for allegedly tossing a loaded

gun into some bushes, Palmer said.

Police attempted to stop Shakvaladyan for a vehicle code violation

near Pacific Avenue and California avenues about 2 p.m.

The driver failed to pull over and later collided with another car

near the intersection of Fairmount and San Fernando Road. The occupants

of the other car were not seriously injured, Palmer said.

Shakvaladyan got out of his car and ran away, Palmer said. He was

tackled about 100 yards away by Officer John Harrison, Palmer said.
