Letter -- Lydia D'Angelo

May 18, 2002

I am a 50-year resident of north Glendale. I am a widowed senior

citizen, 71 years old, who owns an immaculate, well-landscaped property.

Two days before Mother's Day, I was notified by the city of Glendale

that a $100 fine will be due and payable monthly until my parkway is

landscaped to meet their satisfaction. I am outraged!

Never mind that three trees on the parkway are over 100 years old,

with overgrown roots that break our sidewalks and curbs. Many senior

friends of mine have tripped, fallen and injured themselves. This

includes me!

My neighbors, seniors also, are appalled at their citations as well.

We have one of the most beautiful streets in Glendale.

You tell me -- who should "clean up" their act?
