LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE -- The 29th Fiesta Days offers events where

residents can be entertained while celebrating the La Canada Flintridge

community spirit.

"Come Together" is an appropriate theme for this weekend's celebration

in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, said Sheila Cook,

president of the La Canada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce and Community

Assn.

It's important to remember those who've died serving the country, as

the community will do at the Memorial Service at 9 a.m. Monday in

Memorial Park, 1208 Foothill Blvd., Cook said. The service will be a

touching event, Cook said.

"We've got a bagpiper starting it off," Cook said. "If anybody's got a

Kleenex concession they should be there."

Last year, about 10,000 residents attended at least one Fiesta Days

event, chamber Executive Director Schuyler Sprowles said.

Fiesta Days kicks off with a French toast breakfast Saturday morning

and continues through Monday afternoon. Events include a vintage car show

and barbecue on Saturday at Memorial Park, an open house and croquet

tournament starting at 1 p.m. Sunday at Lanterman House, 4420 Encinas

Drive, La Canada Flintridge, and parade and country fair in Memorial Park

on Monday.

Fiesta Days is organized by the La Canada Flintridge Chamber of

Commerce, but is really a gift to residents from the business community,

said Shirley Schreiber, the Chamber's assistant director. Local

businesses sponsor the event at various levels and also have entries in

the parade.
