Vacation Bible School has river-rafting theme
LA CRESCENTA -- La Crescenta Presbyterian Church has given its
Vacation Bible School a river-rafting theme of "Son Canyon River
Adventure." The school runs from 9 a.m. to noon July 8 to 12, and is
for youths who will be 4 by Dec. 2 through those starting sixth grade
in the fall.
There will be singing, crafts and games while students discover
survival skills for living from the book of Proverbs. They will be
shown first aid and emergency skills, knot tying and making shelters.
The Montrose Search and Rescue Team will demonstrate what they do
and show how to be safe outdoors.
The cost is $15, and includes a T-shirt decal, cassette tape of
the school's music, snacks and crafts. The church is at 2902

'Faith of Our Fathers' is topic of service
GLENDALE -- The Rev. I.D.E. Thomas will be the guest speaker for
the worship service at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at United Community Church.
He is the chancellor of California Pacific School of Theology and the
author of many books. His topic is "Faith of Our Fathers."
Infant nursery and toddler care is provided.

Southern Baptist offers free Bible school
GLENDALE -- The First Southern Baptist Church in Glendale is
offering a free summer Bible school for children and adults from 6
to 8:30 p.m. July 15 to 19.
The theme is "Amazon Expedition with the One True God."

Spiritual Independence Day celebrated
LA CRESCENTA -- Pastor Mark Copeland will lead the congregation in
a Spiritual Independence Day celebration at the 10:45 a.m. service
Sunday at First Baptist Church at La Crescenta. It is a Family Sunday
and there is no Sunday School.
Families and friends are invited to the annual Fourth of July
Picnic at the church and viewing of fireworks from Crescenta Valley
High School beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday. There will be free popcorn
and soda.
